Sandy Carroll - Real Estate Consultant
Well, these bio things, I could write a book about everyone else I know, don't like to write about myself. The basic version is that my family homesteaded in Southeastern Montana in the early 1800's. Some family drama that would be a great streaming series happened and I too grew up there, attending a one room schoolhouse until 8th grade. Stopped in Bozeman, MT for four years and got a degree in business marketing. Lived in Billings, MT for a while. Moved to California for a change while I was still young and easy to move. Have been in California ever since, mostly living in Long Beach.
I had an early corporate career for about 15 years, working with every type of executive in business both in size and type, from brand new startup business, to old established, giant and international businesses. That was my career with Dun and Bradstreet. During that time I got an Masters in Business Administration at University of Southern California in Human Resources. Not the law side of human resources, but the warm and fuzzy side of human resources involving personality styles, corporate cultures, fitting the person to the right job and business structures. Most valuable training I've ever had, learning about differences in people and how every one has a point of view and that is good. Also learned that sometimes there are just conflicts with certain people at certain times, but those issues can be resolved.
The time came I had to make a choice between staying in California and moving to the East Coast. I stayed here, started a family and worked with my husband in his small industrial parts business for a few years. Very quickly I got my real estate license and started a new venture.
During my real estate career I've taken advantage of every opportunity to improve my skills, I try to use the newest technology to benefit my business and help my clients. On occasion, I've helped newer agents with progressing their real estate career and always trying to give support to others.
I have two children in their early 20's going to school and work. Also have two fur babies that are spoiled.
The Highlights of my life have to be my two children, nothing else compares. Have had some awards, accomplishments but watching my daughter and son become almost totally independent and responsible young 20 something's is all that matters.
Oh, my background, didn't I already cover that? Rural country girl has made it to the big city and can handle any freeway you have to throw out at me. Along the way I've made an effort to learn about people, eat their exotic foods, and try to cherish and improve my relationships with family, friends, neighbors and my clients. There isn't anything more rewarding than seeing photos of people living in houses that I helped them find. Sometimes I dragged them back a house over and over, saying, this is the one for you! Once in a while I was nagged me a few times to see a house I didn't like but they did. They are happily there now and I learned a lesson.
Awards, yes I've had some, both silly and significant at that time. Those awards, although meaningful, have faded in my memory, compared to hearing my kids say "I love you," every time they walk out the door.
Second best awards are staying in contact with my old clients and seeing how they are happy that their transaction had a positive effect in their lives. Perhaps they bought a house as a newly married couple and now have kids going to the area schools. Sometimes they sold and have moved on to other houses and lifestyles that are rewarding.
